Pollination

Bees are essential in growing flowers and plants. They use a process called Pollination where they transfer tiny grains of pollen from one crop plant to another of the same kind. Transferring this pollen helps crops thrive.

Through pollination, bees are able to receive the sugars needed to fuel their flights. The proteins and amino acids in pollen are vital nutrients needed by young bee larvae back in the hive.

Pollination is a win-win for farmers and apiary owners as each receive a “service” critical to their success. It is common practice for farmers to hire beekeepers to provide bee pollination to help their crop yield. Beekeepers are then able to use this as an extra business spoke outside of the honey flow, while also ensuring their bees are well fed. A mindful beekeeper, however, will always guarantee in advance that farmers are not using toxic chemicals that could harm the apiary during their pollination.
